Both are experts in an unarmed combat technique Shadows of the Empire: Evolution also shows they're equally skilled with blasters. He watches a holo where they wipe out eight armed stormtroopers and approvingly notes neither is even breathing hard after. Early on, Xizor also hires the Pike sisters as assassins due to their skills as martial artists.Leia gets up to less action in this book, but still briefly shows her stuff, kneeing Xizor in the groin at once after breaking free from the pheromone-caused lust toward him.Guri is a deadly female cyborg in Xizor's employ who can easily kill most people (only Luke ever beats her).

Extra lives are generous, enemies stay dead when you respawn at checkpoints, and the more powerful weapons let you breeze through otherwise tanky bosses. This guy was so full of himself it was a wonder he didn't explode and spew ego all over the place. I repeatedly died by sliding off the path on Gall Spaceport, clipping the walls on the last jump in Beggars Canyon, and struggling to shoot down StarVipers with the overly-sensitive joystick.įortunately, the game is still fairly easy even with those issues, and I managed to clear the campaign in about 2 hours on medium difficulty. Exacerbating the problem are the game’s floaty physics, strange hitboxes, and baked-in control scheme. I did one playthrough with a mouse and keyboard, and another with Logitech gamepad, and neither was optimal: M&KB controls are slippery, and the in-game remapping didn’t let me use all the buttons on my controller. On the negative side, the controls have aged like milk. There’s a decent mix of vehicle and on-foot levels, and the game’s roots late in the era of Doom and Quake mean stages are filled with hidden challenge points and weapon pickups. Presentation is king here, with music pulled from the movies as well as original pieces, and some delightfully campy cutscenes. After 2 playthroughs, I can safely say that the game has not aged gracefully, but it is by no means unplayable. I played it countless times on every difficulty, and was interested in revisiting it as I’d never tried the PC version.
